F.A.S.T. Swim Team Brochure

Under the leadership of Head Coach and Aquatics Director, Shawn Columbia, our competitive swimmers are offered the option of swimming with the US year-round team, Fin Aquatics (FAST). Swim team emphasis is on personal skill improvement, as well as good sportsmanship and team spirit. Dedication, teamwork, discipline and goal setting are objectives of the program. Membership with the Randolph-Asheboro YMCA and the ability to swim 25 meters without stopping are required. The Randolph-Asheboro YMCA, for the past seventeen years, has had representation at State and National Championships and had nationally ranked swimmers.

FAST Swimming is a USA Swim Club that offers coaching to the Asheboro, Greensboro, and High Point areas of North Carolina. At FAST, coaches focus on technique, goal setting, and motivation in an environment with friends and fun. With these objectives and the dedication and hard work of the swimmer, success and enjoyment are hand in hand.

TIMES: Monday-Saturday, various groups and times.

HPCC-Asheboro-Kynwood (SHARKS)

The Sharks is a summer league swim team for swimmers ages 6 to 18 (based on age as of June 1). We join with the teams of High Point Country Club and Kynwood to make one big team that swims in the High Point Community Swim Association.

Practices focus on stroke technique while providing a safe and FUN environment to learn and grow through swimming. It is both an exciting and competitive atmosphere where the goal is to develop each team member as both a swimmer and a person. Practices are a combination of hard work and play. At meets, we instill team spirit by sitting together and cheering on our entire team. Good sportsmanship is a must and the children all create new friendships with our High Point partners.

Registration for the 2017 Summer Swim Team will begin on April 17th. Practice will begin on Monday, May 8th. The exact dates and times of practices are listed below (days and times change once school is out). The season is 2 months long – concluding with a City Championship Meet on Tuesday, July 18th. The cost for the entire season is $100 – this includes monthly practice dues, meet entry fees, and a team t-shirt and swim cap.

Meets are held on Tuesday evenings at various pools in the High Point Area. Most meets begin at 6:00pm. The meet schedule (Tentative Meets will be on June 14, 21 28, July 5 and 12) along with locations and addresses are TBA.
