Which Yoga is the right Yoga for You?
Beginner’s Yoga
This is where beginning students learn the foundation of the practice of
yoga. It is highly recommended that all members attend these four week
series in their entirety before attending any of the higher level classes. You
will be introduced in a systematic way to the basics of the asanas(postures)
and the breathing techniques. This class is for everyone, even those who
have practiced yoga in the past will benefit from returning to the basics!
Gentle Yoga
Anxious to begin the practice but just missed a Beginner’s Series? This class
is for you! Healthy individuals should have no problem practicing in these
gently paced hour long sessions. We will lead you to feel comfortable in the
basic yoga postures, standing, sitting and kneeling. Develop flexibility in the
hamstrings in forward bends and begin to experiment with backbending to
strengthen the back and create suppleness in the spine. Special care is
taken to instruct you in proper alignment and in learning how to relax in the
pose! You will certainly leave this class feeling relaxed all over!
Intermediate Yoga
Enjoy yoga with a little bit more of a challenge! You will be practicing many of
the postures that will teach you about stability, strength, balance and
flexibility. These are not traits that you need to have before coming into the
classes, they are the products of a diligent commitment to yoga! Don’t forget
more yoga means more benefits, so consider developing a home practice
based on what you learn here!
Slow Flow Yoga
This is the newest of our classes, and will appeal to your senses in a new
way! Think of this class as slow but powerful, gentle but challenging, and
deceptively strengthening! Learn to move with breath awareness through
the transitions between poses. The concentration needed for this kind of
movement is intense, and believe us, the effort is worth it, for it frees the
mind up from its daily routine…boy, does it!
Power-Flow Yoga
Power flow is not for the faint hearted! It is a unique blend of several
disciplines of yoga and the poses we practice here are intermediate to
advanced in level. They are often linked in faster moving sequences called
vinyasas. Feel your upper body developing, your lower body firming and your
core strengthening when you attend this class weekly! Note, too, how your
balance is improved both physically and mentally. Be prepared to break a
sweat and feel rejuvenated by the physical challenge of Power-Flow!
